M.N. Saturnia

Was Built in Mofalcone (Trieste) Italy in 1924.

She sunk in Kauhsiung (Formosa) March 3, 1974 while being towed on her finale voyage  to the scrap yard. Her length was 631 ft beam 29.5ft. Model length 34 inches.

Tony's family came hear from Italy on this ship in 1951. During the war the ship was capture and taken over by the  US Navy  and used as a Red Cross ship, it also was used for transporting troops back to the States.  It was given back to Italy after the war. The name of the ship while the Unite State had it was Frances Y Slanger. From 1945 to 1946 she carried 1131 women and 371 children  and was given her former name back SATURNIA. Tony farther worked on this ship for about 13 years on and off.
