The Fishin Shack Weekly Reports

WEEK OF APRIL 16, 2007

Well what can I say, it was a beautiful weekend unfortunately the fishing didn’t match the weather. The flounder bite has been a tough go on both sides of the bay. However if your are persistent and put in the time you can scratch up a decent catch up by the mussel beds in the Narrows north of buoy 11. The key is chum, chum and more chum. Saturday, while fishing with Captain Kevin of Euphoria Charters, Derek, Ned, Capt Kevin along with me found a spotty pick in the Narrows despite heavy chumming. Everyone anchored in the area had a one to nine fish per boat. With the weather improving on a daily basis, the bite should crank up a notch or two this week.

Bass fishing leaves much to be desired this week but expect that all to change as soon as the baitfish moves into the bay. There are a few school fish up in the Narrows but nothing to get excited over as of yet. Paul reported fishing with Joe on Sunday afternoon at the inlet with nothing happening yet.

On a different note Joe was flounder fishing up in the Narrows on Sunday morning where he saw one boat nail two weakfish on flounder bait. One of the weakfish weighed in at better than 6-pounds.

Hopefully this is the start of something good. See ya next week.
