The Fishin Shack Weekly Reports

WEEK OF APRIL 9, 2007

Not much to report this week as frigid temps and plenty of wind pretty much shut the doors on the fishing. On a bright note, Capt. Kevin of Euphoria Charter did well during the week in the Narrows & Smith Point airier with fish to 2-pounds. The flounder seem ready to bite and bite hard so a few days of warm sunny weather should get the flatties moving.

The striper opener resulted in a good ole fashion nor’easter that will have things on the back burner for a few days. Before the storm, loads of tiny sand shrimp are swarming the north end of the bay, therefore the spearing and sand lances should not be far behind.

We had a successful day of Flounder fishing on the EUPHORIA.  We fished east with no luck so we went west young man and fished west of the Smith Point Bridge . We had better water temp 48” and we found the fish biting on the ebb of the tide.  We had 6 nice fish from 1.5lbs to over 2lbs.  They took all baits sandworm, mussel and clam and they were hungry.
